Finally, Hope On The Way For Hospital Sick List Patients

Kapiti Coast Grey Power President Roger Booth welcomes the response by Health Minister Barbara Edmonds to Kapiti and Coast Independent News.

Last week Barbara Edmonds, who is also MP for Mana, told KIN urgent help is on the way for anyone waiting 12 months for treatment.

And in another helpful sign of change, one of two seriously- ill locals mentioned in KIN’s article has been told his treatment t will start on Monday (May 29).

Roger Booth says: ‘Jenny Rowan and I had an excellent meeting with Minister Barbara Edmonds two weeks ago.

She asked to be kept in touch with developments following the very successful Public Health Meetings hosted by
Kapiti Coast Grey Power.

‘She also agreed that it was odd that the two model localities Porirua and
Horowhenua which sit beside the Kapiti district were model localities but are yet to have specified
boundaries.

‘She said that she would bring that up at her pending meeting with Ministry officials.
‘Barbara’s promise of urgent action to get operations for everyone who have been waiting 12 months is
excellent.

‘She explains that Te Whatu Ora Health New Zealand has now been directed to respond to those concerned directly, and this organisation needs to be held to this.
‘We must not allow these to become empty words from the Minister. We would love to hear at Grey
Power of good stories following this announcement. In the fullness of time let us see now what actually
happens.’
