In an effort to get the basic facts established for the highly-contentious water-meter debate, we asked local body veteran Betty van Gaalen to provide a complete history of the main points.
Betty van Gaalen, who is Greypower’s spokesperson on local body affairs, has nearly 30 years experience serving on local bodies.
Among the highlights’ of her career were nine years on the Hutt City Council, six of them as deputy mayor; and no fewer than 12 years on the Wellington Regional Council.
