That Controversial Video

Humour Bypass Afflicts Video Wowsers

The Christmas video (see story in righthand column) of Mayor Jenny Rowan giving the famed mayoral hug to National MP Nathan Guy has aroused a storm of controversy.

Many readers loved it – others, suffering a humour bypass – have condemned it as unethical and tasteless.

Council often lauds the activities of young people – and so does KIN. We think the two young people who made the video deserve congratulations for their creativity and for their gentle attempt at a little Xmas laughter.

Colin Moisson, a Year-10 Kapiti College student, operated the camera. His friend Corey Fuimaono, a student at Aotea College, did the other technical stuff. He hopes to work in TV and Film.

As for the criticism, KIN thinks that the politicians who must constantly seek publicity won’t be too worried about public filming in a public place by enterprising young people.
