Picnicking to the sound of Bell Birds!
24th February 2011
What a great day for the Picnic/Open Day.The weather was perfect, – warm and overcast and visitors were greeted with Kereru putting on amazing aerobatic displays and the sounds of Bell Birds calling.
Well over 200 visitors went through the farm.
There were many walkers, including a group of 21 from Island Bay, and many others who hadn’t visited the park before.
One group walked right through to Orange Hut and there was
lots of interest in the proposed future tracks.

There were also bikers and a group of horses which made good use of the tracks and spacious grounds.
Having both the Whareroa Guardians and the Mountain Bike Club based at the Hub worked very well.
Almost all the visitors stopped for a chat with quite a few taking membership application forms.
Having visitors for a longer period of time on the farm though reinforced the need for toilets in the centre of the farm!
