Another Helicopter Rescue
Mission at Paraparaumu

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter has been called to Paraparaumu for the second time in three days—this time to rush an injured woman driver to Wellington Hospital.
The Wellington-based helicopter was called to Paraparaumu about 10:00am today to a two-car accident on State Highway One at the intersection with Raumati Road.
The Helicopter carried a Wellington Free Ambulance helicopter paramedic.
When the helicopter arrived, a 21-yr-old Wellington woman driver of one of the vehicles was still being cut out of one of the vehicles by members of the Paraparaumu Fire Brigade.
The firemen, who arrived in two appliances in heavy traffic, had to cut the roof off her car to get her out.
One of the firemen said some drivers had been getting frustrated and impatient because the heavy traffic conditions.
The woman had abdominal pain and possible head and neck Injuries. There were no other passengers in her vehicle.
The occupants of the second vehicle were not injured.
The injured driver was flown to the Wellington Hospital Emergency Department where she was assessed and treated for her injuries.
In the helicopter rescue mission two days ago, a teenage boy was flown to Wellington Hospital after falling from his BMX bike and injuring his head and neck.
