Rescue helicopter called to Akatarawa Forest to help victim
of roll-over
By Alan TristramThe Westpac rescue helicopter landed on the Akatarawa Road near the Akatarawa forest after a quad Bike accident this weekend.
The accident occurred on a forestry road, after a man in his 50’s rolled his quad bike.
The Westpac helicopter arrived on the scene with a Wellington Free Ambulance Intensive Care Paramedic onboard.
The Life Flight team landed the copter near the scene and the man was treated initially by their paramedic before being flown to Wellington Hospital’s Emergency Department. He had ‘moderate injuries,’ says Life Flight.
The Life Flight Trust is a charity providing air rescue and air ambulance services. It runs the Wellington-based Westpac Rescue Helicopter and a nationwide air ambulance service – and relies on support from the public and sponsorship from partners such as Westpac.
