By Alan Tristram
Central Districts Police say their new ‘Wanted Persons’ and ‘Wanted to Identify’ webpage has received more than 12,670 hits since the launching last month.
Central District Intelligence Manager, Inspector Peter Thurston, says: ‘Since the page was launched 10 people have been located; and information on others who feature on the page keeps coming in.
“The response from the public has been fantastic and we greatly appreciate their support.”
Inspector Thurston says it’s been just under a month since the webpage was launched and Police have had some great successes.
“We have even had someone send us information from as far away as Australia!” he says.
The Central Districts Police district covers a huge area — from Peka Peka and Ōtaki, in the south, to Taranaki and the Central Plateau in the north.
Thirteen new wanted people were uploaded to the webpage yesterday. They are from a range of locations including, Taranaki, Taumarunui, New Plymouth, Levin, Horowhenua, and Palmerston North.
“New faces go up on a regular basis and we encourage the public and local media to keep checking out the page. Your support is vital in keeping our communities safe,” says Inspector Thurston.
If anyone has any information regarding any of the people on the page, or their activities to contact their local police station, or send Police an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
