From the BART platform at Rockridge

The station is across the bay from San Francisco. The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) journey to the big city goes above ground, through tunnels and under the water. The trip into SF is quick and packed trains go by every 5-10 minutes in the rush hour.
Nevertheless on either side of the Rockridge platform there is a constant reminder of America’s on-going love affair with the automobile, as vehicles flash by on the 10 lane freeway.
The views from the platform are dramatic. Above left is the vista of the Oakland hills where $US 2 million + houses perch in a dress circle overlooking San Francisco Bay. Then the other way there is the amazing view of the Bay Bridge and the distant city skyline.
