An amazing blue and white world
By Pat McAllister
We saw plenty of whales, but they only would surface for such a short time to breathe, that we didn’t get a chance to photograph them.
We saw seals basking on chunks of ice floating by, and little penguins, darting so fast through the water … also small colonies of them on shore.
The landscape was amazing: huge cliffs of snow and ice towering above the ship, glistening blue/white in the weak sun.
Loads of icebergs everywhere some looked from a distance to be taller than the ship. (Thankfully they were not playing the theme song from ‘Titanic’ over the P.A. system.)
