Open Space Workshops Ahead

The Kapiti Coast Council is to hold workshops throughout the district for the public to discuss open space issues.
It defines ‘Open Space’ as mostly unbuilt land — like parks, reserves, and pathways — that are accessible to the public.
The Council says this is a chance for residents and groups to say what the open space network should comprise — and what functions and activities the network should cater for.
The workshops will help the Council to develop a strategy to guide its future activities such as land acquisition and development.
The Strategy will be similar to the existing Cycleways, Walkways and Bridleways (CWB) Strategy. But it will complement the CWB by having a wider focus.
While the focus will be on land managed and/or owned by the KCDC it will also take into account open space owned by the Greater Wellington Regional Council and the Department of Conservation.

All evening workshops, 6:30pm (tea/coffee and light snacks provided) for a 7pm start and 9pm finish
Two daytime workshops will be held to look at the whole district and district-wide topics.
