Kapiti Libraries have a new Libraries and Arts Manager, Kat Cuttriss who joined the Kāpiti Coast District Council team at the end of February this year.

She has extensive experience developing, designing and delivering library and information services and was most recently the Associate Director, Library Resource Services at Victoria University of Wellington.

Prior to this, she worked as Campus Librarian at Massey University Wellington Campus, where she contributed to an award-winning redesign and refurbishment of the Wellington Library.

Lecturing and publishing experience

She is a former Senior Teaching Fellow at Victoria University, where she lectured in a range of courses forming part of the (then) Master of Library and Information Studies programme.

Kat has published articles and is an experienced presenter across a variety of topics, including the relationship between library theory and practice, career development and leadership skills in library and information settings, customer service innovations in library and arts’ contexts, and the management of workplace stress in libraries, galleries and museums.

She believes strongly in the importance of listening to library users to inform all aspects of library service development and delivery.

Chance to meet Kat

The Friends of Kapiti Libraries are holding an afternoon “Meet and Greet’ for Kat at 2.30pm on Monday March 20th in the Paraparaumu Library meeting room.

Kat will talk about her vision for the future of the libraries and Arts here in Kapiti.

Tea and coffee will be served and everyone interested is very welcome to attend.
