Benefiting from American competition
By Angelo Robinson
No mid-year holiday for the Kapiti players selected for NZ Basketball Academy Teams. The hard word continues. After months of trials, practice camps and fund-raising these players fly out in July 2016 to be their best, against the best.
The purpose of the tour is to expose New Zealand players to the intensity of the American style of play by competing against some of the best Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) Club Teams in the USA.
Playing at this level is excellent preparation for anyone with aspirations of gaining a college scholarship. With two tournaments being played the tour is intense, both for play, training and compulsory study. (A tutor goes along as part of the support team.)

A fantastic opportunity for the young Kapiti players
This is an amazing opportunity for these players. Again the Kapiti Basketball Association (KBA), continues to train and provide support for the great players who are coming up through Hoop Club and the Representative Teams.
The competition at these USA tournaments is fierce, with all the top age group teams from around the USA attending.
This will be a wonderful experience for these players and will show them where they need to be to be able to compete and be successful at the next stage and level of basketball.
Congratulations again to all these players, Kapiti Basketball is extremely proud of them all for their achievements to date.
