Rescue ‘Copter sent to Upper Hutt
then the Wairarapa
20th November 2009
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called to Whiteman’s Valley Upper Hutt last night at 7:30pm.
A 9yr-old-boy had fallen while playing on the trampoline at home, suffering head and neck injuries.
The Helicopter flew in with a Wellington Free Paramedic on board.
A Wellington Free Ambulance was already at the location and had immobilised the patient ready for the flight.
The boy was flown to the Wellington Hospital Emergency Department for treatment.
Shortly afterwards, the Westpac Helicopter was dispatched again to Tinui in the Wairarapa where a 7-month-old baby was having a seizure.
Due to the remote location the Ambulance and Fire Service had not long been at the scene before the helicopter arrived.
Once the baby was assessed by the Wellington Free Paramedic the baby and the mother were flown to the Wellington Hospital Emergency Department.
Both patients are in a stable condition in Wellington Hospital
