Friends of the Library opener for 2017
The first speaker of the year will be Leeann Morgan.
Leeann was, until recently, Kapiti’s Library and Arts Manager and resigned her position last year to devote herself to full-time writing.
She will talk to us about her writing, her books and her recent travels in America where her stories are set. This promises to be a lively and entertaining evening.
Leeann Morgan: Wednesday 15 February at 7:00pm in the Paraparaumu Library Meeting Room.
Some bold and controversial management decisions
Leeann’s time as Library Manager saw a number of far-reaching changes at the Paraparaumu Library, including
~ reorganisation of the fiction section layout
~ an increase in the number of computers
~ more space created at the entrance
~ some staff redundancies
~ training staff to specialise less and broaden their skills
~ reducing the number of magazine subscriptions
~ moving the magazine display section to the back wall.
And, needless to say, a massive increase in the book stock of romantic fiction.
Not surprisingly, these changes have had their supporters and detractors.
