The journey from the Paraparaumu town centre to Paraparumu Beach is now easier thanks to the long-awaited opening of the shared path on Kāpiti Rd.
The final piece of the puzzle between Brett Ambler Way and the Expressway provides a smooth and safe link for cyclists and pedestrians, greatly improving connectivity, says Cr Bernie Randall.
List of safety measures
Officially opened this week, the work has included:
– putting the power underground
– providing on-road cycleways on both sides of the road
– constructing a shared path on the south side
– widening the road
– indenting a bus stop to improve safety and traffic flows.
Safety of schoolchildren at Raumati now a priority, says Cr Randall
Councillor Randall later told the Kapiti Independent that his next big project is to get safety measures at Raumati Beach to ensure the safety of hundreds of local children who walk, cycle and scoot along the traffic-clogged streets each weekday.
