Kāpiti enviroschools are once again enthusiastically involved in the Kāpiti Sustainable Home and Garden show. As well as participating in the Council’s sustainable garden and garden art competitions, the schools and preschools will be busy in the Enviroschools tent.

Raumati South School`s Room 7 class will display and talk about their weta hotel project, and will have bamboo bundles to give away for your own bug hotels.

Little Earth will host an interactive activity, where children can make coffee ground fossils! Check out Principal Anja Geelen’s blog: http://www.eyesonnature.blogspot.co.nz/2011/07/coffee-grounds-fossils.html

Saturday 24th:

9am-11am – Raumati South School, 11am-1pm – Little Earth Montessori Preschool, 1pm-2.30pm – Raumati South Kindergarten

Raumati South Kindergarten will be selling bird feeders made from pinecones, worm wee fertiliser, and swan plant seedlings planted in tins painted by the children.

From 2.30-3.30pm, Te Radar will be in the tent as a one-man ‘panel’, fielding questions from student envirogroups about sustainable living.

Sunday 25th:

10am-1pm – Paraparaumu Playcentre (tbc)   1pm-3pm – Waikanae Kindergarten

Waikanae Kindergarten will share a display of their enviro-journey, and will offer an interactive sand tray for children to make their own art or garden. They will also be selling insect homes, potted seedlings, succulents, and white butterfly protectors.

More plans are in progress… come along to the Enviroschools tent, find out about the Enviroschools programme and be part of the fun.
