Stuff reports the NZ Defence Force says the fuse from a “WWII-era projectile” was found buried at Queen Elizabeth II park in Kāpiti on Sunday.
The person who found it, using a metal detector, dug it up and moved it to where the Defence Force explosive Ordnance Disposal Team was able to identify it.
The seaside park was the site of a United States military camp and training area during WWII, and several explosive devices hav previously been found there.
