Mayoral candidate Chris Turver has congratulated the winners in the Kapiti election and thanked his 7890 supporters for “almost tipping the balance.”
He says the Mayoral outcome was always going to be tough because of the high number of candidates and potential for vote splitting.
Mr Turver is particularly pleased that half the six-person One Kapiti team were elected as Councillors, adding strength of experience and a good dose of commonsense to future decision-making.
He expects the new Council to take a far more critical approach to ratepayer spending and a more positive approach to building Kapiti’s economy and growing jobs.
