Police called to Pauatahanui Inlet

Firearms charges are being considered against a man who was arrested by Porirua Police after an incident at tghe Pauatahanui Wildlife Reserve.
Police were called to the Pauatahanui Inlet on Saturday evening after shots were heard.
They found a man duck shooting in the wildlife reserve, near a residential area.
Police said today that all hunters are reminded to hunt only in areas where hunting is permitted.
Police also say hunters must abide by the conditions of their firearms licences — and make safety their first priority.
“It is crucial that hunters follow the law and safety rules” says Senior Sergeant Simon King of the Wellington Police.
“Police will treat any breaches extremely seriously.”
