The two schools in the Raumati area where a rapist was due to be housed have greeted with relief his decision to live somewhere else.
The Dompost reports that Justin Johnston’s sister, who lives in Margaret Road, Raumati, has blamed the public outcry for her brother’s decison to go somewhere else after serving 15 years in prison for two rapes.
Johnston was freed from Prison last August after serving his sentence, but was back behind bars later because of another charge relating to being in an enclosed yard without permission.
The two schools in the Margaret Road area — Raumati Beach primary school and Kapiti College — have issued ‘stranger danger’ notices to 1700 pupils.
The heads of both schools have expressed relief about Johnston’s decision to live elsewhere on his final release from jail.
