Coastlands Aquatic Centre hit by collapse of builders
By Alan Tristram
Just seven weeks out from the opening, the new Paraparaumu swimming pool has been hit by the collapse of the main contractoprs, Mainzeal.
The Kapiti Coast District Council has announced it’s ‘still assessing the likely impact of the news that Mainzeal Property and Construction Limited has gone into receivership.’
Mainzeal is the main building contractor on the $21.1m Coastlands Aquatic Centre Project, which is just seven weeks short of completion.
The KCDC says Council staff are talking with receivers, Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC), to determine the best way forward.
Chief Executive Pat Dougherty says: “We can be grateful at least that the project is 85% complete so it would make sense to do whatever is necessary to just push on and finish it. That is certainly what we will be discussing with the receivers.”
Council staff have been meeting PWC representatives in Wellington. Meanwhile, work on the Aquatic Centre, off Kapiti Road, has been suspended for 48 hours.
PWC has set up a website page, which will regularly update developments http://www.pwc.co.nz/mainzeal/
It’s an remarkable piece of writing in favor of all the internet users; they will obtain benefit from it I am sure.
I’m not that much of a internet reader to be honest
but your blogs really nice, keep it up! I’ll go ahead and
