Kapiti Police say the missing Paraparaumu woman Robyn Wilson has been found by Search and Rescue staff in swampland off Manly Street, Paraparaumu Beach, in knee-deep water.
She was taken to Wellington Hospital for observations, but apart from being cold, she appeared to be well.
Ms Wilson was unable to say to those who found her where she had been or how long she had been in the swamp water.
Police Senior Sergeant Anita Dixon says: “Thank you on behalf of her family, and Police,to all those who actively looked for Mrs Wilson on or around their property.”
Earlier today, Police said they were worried for the safety of the 60-year-old.
Ms Wilson, who has a medical condition, left her Rifleman Lane home at Paraparaumu Beach to go on a casual walk just after 4pm yesterday.
She failed to return home or contact her family.
Police and Search and Rescue volunteers searched during the night and returned to the area this morning.
Police then asked the Kapiti community, in particular those from the Paraparaumu Beach and Rifleman Lane area, to check their properties, sheds, crawl spaces and waterways for her.
Ms Wilson was lightly dressed for the overnight conditions, wearing a light grey-coloured cardigan, dark blue jeans and white sneakers.
Police said she might have been confused about her whereabouts and unable to make her way back home.
