1000 WOMEN FOR THE NOBEL PEACE PRIZE 2005
July 6, 2005 1,000 women from around the world were collectively nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, as part of a novel project highlighting the work of women worldwide in the pursuit of peace, equality and justice.
The project nominated 1000 women to represent collectively the women who are engaged daily in working for the better future of their communities, promoting reconciliation, demanding justice, and rebuilding what has been destroyed. They transform conflict; fight against poverty, and for human rights. They create alternative sources of income, strive for access to land and clean water, involve themselves in education, healing and reintegrating HIV patients. They find solutions to a great many forms of violence, and condemn the genital mutilation of girls. The life stories, the visions, methods, strategies and networks of these 1000 women are showcased in this current exhibition.
