Photos of the Week: Public Sculptures

The Churchmans in California

Buckyball

We have now been in San Francisco for a couple of days.

While coping with Los Angeles traffic is stressful enough, San Francisco traffic is no better; it moves faster than L.A. traffic, that is all.

We were surprised to discover that tolls are still being collected on the Golden Gate Bridge after 81 years.  With Auckland Harbour Bridge it was only 25 years.

Here are a couple of public art sculptures on the Embarcadero: One is called Buckyball; the other didn’t have a name visible, but brings to mind a lightship.

These types of public art pieces help to create visitor interest, something we don’t have in Kapiti.
