Performing Arts in North California
Story and photos by Geoff Churchman
We are now a few hundred miles south of Portland.
Eureka is a city of about 29,000 population on the northern California coast in Redwood country.
The Performing Arts Centre must be one of the more notable in America, not just for the shows it hosts (here Mary Poppins,) but because of its front appearance — ornate styling from 1920 — and its rear appearance — a giant 4 story high mural.
It’s the sort of building Kapiti Coasters probably wish they had as a landmark.
