Photo of the Week: Competing for Charity

Thank you to you and your team for the great organisation and delicious soups offered at Sunday’s event. It took me places I had not been before and the scenery was breathtaking. The stiffness on Monday was worth all the effort and I look forward to next year. Alison Parsons

In the Footsteps if the Marines is all about giving participants a pleasurable new experience and raising money for good Kapiti causes.

137 walkers and runners completed the off-road course a couple of weeks ago, and enjoyed the challenging course as well as the hot soup and roll afterwards in the wonderful Ramaroa Centre.

$2000 was raised, and $500 has been given to each of The Kapiti Women’s Refuge and Life Flight Trust. Whareroa Guardians who do such amazing work in the Farm have received $400 and the Kapiti US Marines Trust $300.

Other groups who have benefited include

  • Raumati Scouts
  • Raumati Beach School
  • Kapiti Runnning and Tri Club

The organisers, Kapiti Joggers and Walkers, are very grateful to sponsors Pak’nSave,The Print Room and City Fitness, and to all the businesses who generously provided spot prizes.

A full list of these supporters will be published next week.
