Cr Scott chooses trial by jury in sex case involving KCDC officer
Kapiti District Coast Councillor David Scott has opted for trial by jury on charges alleging an indecent assault on a female council worker.
He appeared in the Porirua District Court yesterday, where he was represented by Mike Antunovic
At an earlier hearing, Cr Scott (71) had requested a judge-alone trial.
At that stage, Mr Scott, who is pleading not guilty, told KIN that he opted for a judge-alone trial because he just wanted to get his case dealt with as soon as possible.
He was charged with indecent assault after allegedly pressing himself again a female staff member during a tea break on Council premises.
KCDC Mayor K Gurunthan is reportedly a witness in the case.
Yesterday Judge James Johnston remanded Cr Scott on bail and set a date in September for a jury trial call-over in Wellington District Court.
