The Kāpiti Coast Council is telling locals how to ask for information from Council.
It says: “Need information from the Council?
“Our online tool ‘Have Your Say‘ <Have Your Say | Kāpiti Coast >(kapiticoast.govt.nz)has a ‘Questions’ button at the bottom of the consultation page for you to fire through requests.”
The Council also says: “We do our best to respond as quickly as possible.
“Usually, it’s just a case of pointing people to information which is already on our website. But if your question – or the answer – is complex or requires time to collate a response from non-public sources we treat it as an official information request (or LGOIMA).
“Our response times for official information requests are governed by legislation. It gives us 20 working days.
“But that’s a limit, not a target – we’ll respond as soon as we can. We publish requests and responses on our website for others who want the same information.”
