Kapiti Club Names Most Promising Players
Kapiti Chess Club Juniors Johnny Hynes (left) and Josh Bunker lay hands on the coveted 2011 ‘Most Promising Player’ trophy at the Club’s recent prize-giving ceremony.
Chess Club President Guy Burns says: “The Trophy is a new one for the Club and the Committee quickly determined Johnny and Josh as top candidates for the prize.
“But, when it came to deciding between the two players, the wisdom of Solomon was needed.” Mr Buirns says “We were unable to decide one player over the other and eventually awarded the Trophy to both, who will share it for 6 months each.”
The Kapiti Chess Club welcomes new players and encourages anyone interested in chess to “pop down to the Club and have a look”.
The club will resume play for the year on February 1. Members meet on Wednesdays at 7.30pm at the Paraparaumu Library.
