Helicopter Lands at Raumati Park

After Drug Emergency

14th January 2010

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was called from Wellington Airport to Weka Park in Raumati just before noon today to fly a woman to Wellington Hospital.

This is the second time in two days the Rescue Helicopter has been called to the Raumati-Paraparaumu area.

The woman, who was said to be in her late 30’s, was taken to Weka Park in an ambulance after suffering a reported drug overdose.

She was quickly wheeled from the ambulance to the helicopter on a transfer gurney and then flown to Wellington Hospital for assessment and treatment.

She was cared for during the trip by one of the Wellington Free Ambulance paramedics now carried on all Rescue Helicopter flights.

Yesterday the helicopter was called to an accident scene in the Maungakotukutuku Valley after the driver of a quad bike was injured when the vehicle somersaulted and landed on top of him.
