The Life Flight rescue helicopter and the Coast Guard began an intensive search off Kapiti Island this afternoon after three divers were reported missing.
Life Flight Trust were asked by Police about 2pm to begin a search for the three divers and sent the Westpac Helicopter with a Wellington Free Ambulance Paramedic on board.
The divers had not been seen since around 12:15.
When the Helicopter arrived two of the divers had been located by the Kapiti Coast guard.
The third diver was found on the beach on the western side of Kapiti Island see Life Flight photo left) by the Life Flight team soon after.
The Helicopter crew then directed the Kapiti coast guard to the diver’s position where he was then taken on board and returned to shore.
It is understood that all divers were fine and not in need of medical help.
