The winds of change are blowing

The Prime Minister has announced the date of the election set for 23rd September.

Rob McCann, Local Labour candidate for the Otaki electorate, is excited at the prospect of changing the government and changing our local MP.

At the last local body elections both the long serving Mayor for Horowhenua, Brendan Duffy, and one term Kapiti Coast Mayor Ross Church were not re-elected, indicating the region wanted something new.

“It’s definitely time for a change,” says Mr McCann “and both the Horowhenua and Kapiti Coast local body elections demonstrated that the public wanted an alternative vision.”

We need new leadership to navigate the challenges ahead.

These include the housing crisis that the National Party and their representatives refuse to acknowledge, the underfunding of the education sector, the $1.7 billion underfunding of the health sector, and the Police who no longer have the numbers to do the job.

“These challenges will be met by a Labour Government. I can guarantee we won’t walk away, hoping the free market will have the answers”.
