The Kāpiti Coast Council is reassuring users of the Paraparaumu Library who’ve seen plastic-wrapped scaffolding on the northwest wall of the building.
It says ‘everything is OK and it’s business as usual in the library.’
‘The external concrete wall is undergoing a few weeks maintenance of sealant between the panels. This will see parts of the area outside the library cordoned off.’
Shrink wrap cover — but not for books
Council’s contractors installed shrink wrap around the scaffolding before work started as a safety precaution.
Recent wet weather has delayed the scaffolding installation, but the work on this part of the library is still expected to be complete by late-June.
Library Manager Ian Littleworth says the work is all outside and won’t affect any library services.
‘Any potential noise will be kept to a minimum by the shrink wrap and is unlikely to be noticeable inside the library, he says.
However, Council has advised that some of the seating and pathways in the area may not be available from time to time and is asking people to stay outside the fenced off area.
