Kapiti Coast District Councillor and Green Party member Lyndy McIntyre is calling on everyone in the Kapiti Coast who cares about climate change to back an international day of action on Saturday, December 5.
“I’m hoping for a strong Kapiti Coast presence at Planet A. Walk For The Climate in Wellington on Saturday,” Councillor McIntyre says.
“Supporting this action prior to international climate negotiations at Copenhagen is a must for everyone who wants to make a difference on climate change,” she says.
“Millions of people across the world will hit the streets to call on our political leaders to set ambitious carbon targets at Copenhagen.”
Councillor McIntyre says the Mana Greens are planning to travel to Wellington on the 11.35am train from Paraparaumu and they invite Kapiti Coasters to join them.
“It will be great to take a Kapiti message to the event that is all about calling on political leaders to take action on climate change,” she says.
“The best action for the Kapiti Coast will be to turn the tide on Government support for massive roading projects and win support for the sustainable solution locally.”
