Kapiti Council turning taps on for river water again

Bore water turned off
Thanks to recent rain, the water supply for Raumati, Paraparaumu and Waikanae is now back to 100% river water.
But the Kapiti Coast District Council says it may take 24 to 48 hours for the 100% river water to get through to customers.
With the river now running at 1774 litres per second, there are no water restrictions in place.
In future,Once the river recharge scheme is operating, bore water will be added to Waikanae River below the treatment plant when river levels are low, so more water can be taken from the river.
Because the bore water will be added below the plant, it won’t enter water supply.
