Forty-six Paraparaumu/Raumati groups and individuals have been given a total of $21,850 from this year’s Community Grants.
The money awarded by the Paraparaumu/Raumati Community Board on the recommendations of Chair Jonny Best, Deputy Guy Burns, Kathy Spiers and Bernie Randall and two Ward Councillors made the decision this year to grant the contestants the various amounts at their 6-weekly meeting.
Grants are available to groups or individuals who promise a future input into the development of community, cultural or sports activities within the District.
Application forms for the next round start in July and are available from the Council website.
The successful applicants were:
Georgia Wickens $250 To assist with the cost for Georgia to participate in the School’s trip to Samoa.
Zane Ainslie $500 To assist with the cost for Zane to attend the NZ Under 16 Mixed Touch Team’s 2017 Development Tour.
Kapiti College Boys Hockey $63.25 To cover the cost of the Special Licence required for the Hockey Team’s fundraising quiz night.
Loved 4 Life $500 To assist with the costs of providing a quilt, knitted garments and meals to the families of newborn babies.
Paraparaumu College Barbershop Quartets and Vocal Chorus $500 To assist with the costs to compete in the Young Singers in Harmony national competition.
Parawai Lions Club $75 To assist with the cost of hiring the Kapiti Community Centre for the “Hearts Night” fundraising event, raising money for Idea Services.
Presentation Sisters $500 To assist with the cost of hiring the Paraparaumu Memorial Hall for the Presentation Sisters Mission Gala. Other grants were:
